False witness scripture11/28/2023 But to someone being oppressed it is a place of refuge and potential liberation. A courtroom may strike us a cold and wooden place. It is as if there is an ideal witness and an ideal courtroom. The other reason is that in this text the idea of a witness and a formal process is explicitly discussed. In other words, more of ancient Israel’s permanent life in the land is in view. One reason is that the laws readdressed in Deuteronomy often have a more progressive character. Of all of the related laws on truthfulness, Deuteronomy 19:15-21 is of most interest to the thesis. Is there any significance in this repetition throughout the Pentateuch?
